Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow |
The Glasgow School of Art Graduate degree shows are also happening all weekend. Programmes include Graphics, Fine Art, Design and Fashion, among others. The shows will be running at the Lighthouse in Mitchell Lane from 10:30am to 5:00pm every day.
The CCA will be celebrating the Jarman Award - a film award named for cinema iconoclast Derek Jarman. Work by the ten short-listed artists will be shown along with interviews with the artists. The award winner will receive £10k and a broadcast commission with Channel 4. Afterward, have lunch in the CCA's yummy vegan cafe, Saramago, or browse the shop, Home, for unique jewellery, gifts and housewares.
In the evenings, there are always plenty of pub and club nights to choose from, and music performances in the UK's city of music. For example, did you know that some of the buses on the 75 route are hosting experimental, folk, rap, rock, pop, swing, or world music this Saturday?
Or you can drop in on Singles night at the Flying Duck, where Andrew 'Divine' Symington and Chris 'Beans' Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) play strictly 45s all night, from punk to hip hop, rock'n'roll to soul.
