Everybody's workin' for the weekend

The imortal words of Loverboy. Indeed, everybody is workin' for the weekend. Now you can stop workin' - the weekend starts tomorrow. Finally! Here's what to do:

Start the weekend with Chance the Rapper at the Arches on Friday night. One of his youtube videos should convince you:

On Saturday, visit the Mansfield Park farmers' market in Partick and shop for locally grown fruit and veg, as well as baked goods, and, if you are so inclined, wild boar.

Afterward, you could head to the Waterstones on Sauchiehall Street where Jo Nesbo will be signing copies of his new novel, Police: A Harry Hole Thriller from 1pm.

Then head out to the Tramway to see Extremely Bad Dancing to Extremely French Music. The performance is described as:

"…Over 50 discretely made piano, dance and text-based solos, edited around strict rhythmic structures. They span the overtly political, the understated and the oblique, while ranging in temperament and emotion from the extremely calm and extremely harmonic, to the extremely loud and extremely vulgar. The piece will probably include the extremely undecided and definitely have extremely bad dancing to extremely French music."

How could you not want to see that? If it's a bit out there for you, Enterteasement: Comedy! Magic! Burlesque! may be more your speed. Pretty much what it says on the tin, at the Hold, underneath the Admiral Bar on Waterloo Street.

Sunday is just made for brunch. The Left Bank, or either of its sister restaurants (the Bungo and the Two Figs) offers a brunch menu. The menus vary between the three outposts, but Left Bank offers delicious options like porridge with maple syrup, home made granola, or a full Scottish breakfast. Normally I don't like the beans in a Scottish breakfast - I've never liked baked beans. But the ones they do at Left Bank are really good. Most options have a vegan version. The Grosvenor Cafe is also good for brunch, and they also do really special beans, but be warned - their Scottish breakfast is a mountain of food. Though it has the added advantage of having a cinema, so you can catch a film afterward.
