Bombs away

It took me awhile to come around to the bomber trend. I had one saved in my ASOS shopping basket for weeks last year, a really pretty beaded one that was on sale, but then it sold out. I think my hesitation was about the fact that I assumed the trend would only last one season, and didn't think it would work out to be a good cost per wear rate. But I've come to realise that, due to my apple shape, the cut of the classic bomber is probably more flattering that a blazer, which is unfortunate because I love blazers. But, ever since I stopped being a UK size 14, I've never been able to find a blazer that flatters.

Now the bomber is basically ubiquitous, in all fabrics and finishes - beaded, tweed, leather, quilted, sequinned. You can pretty much take your pick. I have found a number of good options:

Multi-trend option: Camo Abbot bomber jacket, Equipment at Saks Fifth Avenue

Super bling option: Sequin bomber jacket, Linea Weekend at House of Fraser
The understated elegance option: Two-tone scuba bomber jacket, Stella McCartney at Net-a-Porter
The bargain option: Soft bomber jacket, Definitions at Isme
The goes with everything option: Printed bomber jacket, Episode at House of Fraser
The winter white option: Evette beaded zip bomber, Gestuz at Flannels
The winter florals option: Mirrored print bomber jacket, Simply Be
The 60s glam option: Satin bomber jacket, Next
