So, I bought those Zara boots from a previous post but I turns out my big canoe feet are too big for Zara size 42. It's always a dilemma because I could hold on to then and hope that the shoes stretch a little as I walk around, but they won't be comfortable enough to want to wear them to break them in. So they're going back.

That leaves me without good winter shoes. I have some biker boots with a substantial lug sole, but they are brown and I'm really far more into wearing black. Finding size 42 narrows my search majorly. Here's what I found, in order of price (low to high). I'm leaning toward the Dune biker boots - thoughts?

Black ankle boots, Nine West

Biker boots, Dune
Biker boots, Duo

Quilted lace-up boots, Sorel

Quilted biker boots, Russell & Bromley

Shearling lined biker boots, Marc by Marc Jacobs

Leather boots, Miu Miu

Studded leather ankle boots, Chloe
These are way too expensive, and aren't really specifically 'winter' boots and they certainly aren't shoes you haven't seen a million times before, but I couldn't resist adding them to the list.
